May you always have the courage to fly.”Evelyn Carree was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. After high school, she left to attend Texas A&M University for college. During her sophomore year of college, she became a statistic; she became one of the many individuals raped in college. Though her rapist did not attend Texas A&M, he still tainted the city. Graduating from college began to slowly fade away as a distant desire as her focus was simply on graduating from her trauma each day. This experience shortly became a source of inspiration for her. Instinctually, she leaned into her place of comfort artistic expression. She took her feelings of discombobulation to the pages of her journal to unravel the unique feelings she was experiencing. Writing offered her freedom that was unknown off the page. During this time, she began to notice the intrinsic value of nature; it became her primary source of connection and love. In this place of connection, there was a mutual understanding of what it meant to be acted upon. This is where she and God met to explore the realms of all possibilities within her and in the world. The oneness she feels through God in nature inspires many of her artistic pieces today.

• This was bittersweet. They're is often do much shame and uncomfortableness regarding sexual violence in our society. It's a tragedy to know yet another young soul had been tainted by this violence, but a triumph to see the way that this doesn't have to define everything about the survivor. What a blessing for others, whether they've experienced something similar, or just need perspective from someone who has.
• I have never been sexually assaulted but people who are dear to me have. I understand it to be such a sensitive topic for blatant reasons, so I aim to be an open, supportive ear to my friends when they need one, instead of asking questions or adding on in any way. Metamorphosis was an enlightening read that helped me see and learn more about sexual assault throughout Evelyn’s eyes. It brought out so much empathy in me. I can only imagine how this would be for others who have gone through the same situations.

• I love this. So beautifully said. Not one who has been sexually abused in my life I have felt a light in a different way through reading this. I found that there truly is a sense of purpose for everyone no matter there situation. This is definitely a MUST READ for everyone!!!
• Knowing a few survivors of sexual assault, it was a bit rough to hear the words of the author. This is impactful in such a way of revealing the most vulnerable parts of her life and sharing her story with anonymous readers. It was hard to put down once I began reading and I would read it all over again. The story is touching, relatable to some, and informing to all. Couldn't thank the author enough for sharing this!
